Herbed Marinated Mozzarella with Olive Oil and Garlic

Ingredients:
8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Zest of 1 lemon
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar (optional)
Directions:
Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped basil, chopped oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Stir to combine.
Add the mozzarella balls to the bowl, making sure they are well coated with the marinade.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to marinate and infuse the mozzarella.
Before serving, drizzle with balsamic vinegar for added flavor (optional) and serve chilled or at room temperature as an appetizer or snack.
